Biography of Neil Galilee BA MMRS

Neil Galilee is the sole Director of Eden Business Analysis Limited. He personally manages all projects using knowledge, skills and experience from a long career in the railway industry.
Neil has a BA (Hons) in Business Studies and is a full Member of the Market Research Society. He is a member of the Independent Consultants Group (Market Research), a member of the Independent Rail Consultancy Group and an associate Member of the rail industry Passenger Demand Forecasting Council.
Prior to setting up Eden Business Analysis in 1998, Neil worked for 22 years in the rail industry. During this time most of his jobs were in business planning, scheme appraisal and market analysis.

1994-1998 Market Analyst for Northern Spirit* Train Operating Company.
Neil led a small team of specialists looking after market research, demand forecasting, ticket sales analysis and pricing. He established a comprehensive customer satisfaction monitoring programme using the SERVQUAL technique. It was a key element of the six figure market research budget that he managed. Neil represented the company on the national body involved with rail passenger demand forecasting and sat on the Association of Train Operating Companies' committee responsible for ticket sales analysis and income allocation.

1991-1994 Planning and Contracts Manager for InterCity East Coast.
Neil managed the investment processes for all aspects of the business including infrastructure, rolling stock, stations and buildings. He worked to establish contractual relationships that were to be the forerunner of those implemented during the rail privatisation process of the mid 1990s.
1989-1991 British Rail, Eastern Region Appraising Officer.
Neil conducted detailed evaluations of several schemes over £0.5m which required formal appraisal according to the British Railways Board procedures of the time. Schemes included resignalling, trackwork changes, level crossing replacement, new ticket offices at main stations and land use studies.
1986-1989 Market and Business Analysis Manager for InterCity Great Western.
This post gave Neil his first experience of on-train market research and was the first time he worked in rail marketing.
1981-1986 British Railways Board Headquaters.
Neil worked in the Passenger Forecasting team before moving to the InterCity business unit carrying out roles in planning and investment appraisal. During this time he was responsible for the passenger demand forecasts for the East Coast Main Line Electrification Project.
1980-1981 Front line management in the Birmingham area.
Neil was the local manager for 13 staffed stations, 4 signalboxes and 2 train crew depots.
1976-1980 British Rail Management training linked to a Business Studies degree course.
